How much follow up maintenance is needed in SEO ?

After my site has been optimized and the key words have been defined does it require constant weekly or monthly updating , or only a few minor adjustments for a few months to increase ranking ?

1. Once your on-page factors are set and correct, you don't even need to change it, more so on a weekly basis. Everyday there are new directories coming out or blogs. Writing an article once a week and submitted it to article directories will help also.
